Born 1969 in Devon, Alex Callaway is a fine artist based near Worcester, England. He studied illustration at Falmouth School of Art and produced book covers and surreal imagery for the international poster market before focusing on painting.
Alex’s work has been shown in many high profile art exhibitions and has received a number of prizes. Most recently he was honoured to receive first prize in the 2019 RBSA Portrait Prize for ‘Fortitude’ a portrait of his daughter, and in 2018 his painting ‘Confluence’ was a finalist in the prestigious Columbia Threadneedle Prize. In 2017 he received an Alfred Daniels Award from The Royal Society of British Artists 300th Exhibition, and in 2016 an Arcadia Contemporary Award from the 12th International ARC Salon.
His paintings have featured in online reviews and in publications such as Poets & Artists magazine, American Art Collector and International Artist. In 2017 he was elected a Member of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists (RBSA), and in 2016 an Art Renewal Center Associate Living Master (ARCALM).
Alex’s work is represented by Beaux Arts Bath and The Doorway Gallery in Dublin.
